Stefan Burchardt

Stefan Burchardt, a young Danish violinist, began playing at age 4 and made his solo debut with the Odense Symphony Orchestra playing the M. Bruch Violin concerto no. 1. He has since, despite his young age, had a very active career as a soloist and chamber musician. He’s also won numerous awards, including first prizes at Flame Concours Paris, Øresunds Solist 2019. In 2019 he was also a finalist at the Eugene Ysaye competition.

He began his musical education at the age of 6 with Alexandre Zapolski in Copenhagen and studied under him for almost 10 years. He is currently studying his bachelor at UdK Berlin with Prof. Latica Honda-Rosenberg. Stefan has played with major orchestras such as the Danish Radio Symphony Orchestra, the Odense Symphony and the Sønderborg Symphony Orchestra and appeared at prestigious venues like the Berlin Philharmonie Kammersaal, Beethoven Haus Bonn and Carl-Nielsen Hall in Denmark.

Stefan has also been featured at festivals like the Kronberg Academy, Aurora Festival, and Encuentro de Santander. In 2019 he won 1st prize at Jugend Musiziert in Germany and was the same year awarded the Hermann Abs-Prize for the best interpretation of a piece by L. V. Beethoven, where he was invited to play in the “Beethoven Haus” Hall in Bonn, Germany. The concert was recorded and broadcast on German radio by WDR for the “Beethoven Year 2019”. 

Other accolades include the Hans Schaeuble Award 2020 and recognition as an “EMCY” Soloist. In 2017, he was named Denmark’s “Wunderkind” on Danish Radio’s “Wonderkids.”

Stefan is also an enthusiastic chamber musician who has performed a wide variety of chamber music pieces with well-established musicians such as Hartmut Rohde, Bruno Philippe, Ensemble Midtvest, Jonian Ilias Kadesha and Alissa Margulis.

Stefan has received essential inspiration through masterclasses at the Kronberg Academy and with prominent teachers such as Dora Schwarzberg, Pavel Vernikov, Zakhar Bron, Olivier Charlier (Paris Conservatoire), Maciej Rakowski (Royal College, London), Alf Richard Kraggerud (Barratt Due Musikkinstitutt, Oslo), Malin Broman (Stockholm, Sweden) amongst others. Driven by his passion for music, he continues to work on his abilities both technically and musically.
